Essence Blue Addicted

Today I want to share my swatch for Essence Blue Addicted, which was one of my first Essence polishes. I've read this is a dupe for Deborah Lippman Across The Universe, a polish that didn't spark my interest at all before, but once I put it on my nails... swoon!

Blue Addicted is dark blue/navy blue jelly packed with medium silver and green hexagonal glitter plus small silver glitter.

In my swatches I layered one coat of Blue Addicted over China Glaze Blue Year's Eve, a deep blue glassfleck, which turned up to be a perfect base for Blue Addicted, even if it lightened it up a bit.

This polish was very easy to apply, it was packed with glitter so I didn't have to juggle around to get them on my nails. I loved how the glitters look to be suspended on the jelly base. Blue Addicted is part of the Color & Go line of Essence, and retails for roughly $3 at my local store.

a-england Ascalon

Hi guys! Today I have a swatch of one of my first a-england polishes to share with you, which is Ascalon from The Legend collection.

Ascalon is a dark grey base with scattered holographic particles and a beautiful green/lavender shimmer. Somehow, it reminds me of pigeons. You know, they are grey, but also have this green and lavender shimmery feathers. Not that it is a bad thing, it just reminded me of that.

This polish has a nice formula, a bit tricky on the first coat, but it evened out beautifully on the second. I got to enjoy this pretty for around 4 days with only minimal tipwear and no chips.

My swatches don't do it justice, though and I'll revisit this swatch in the future. The day was overcast when I took the pics so the holo particles didn't want to come out to play :( The great thing is that, even when there's no holo, you still get some beautiful duochrome action. No matter the lighting condition, Ascalon doesn't disappoint.

You can get this and other polishes directly from a-england, they retail for £9.00, with worldwide free shipping.

China Glaze - Strawberry Fields

Hi guys! This is my first "real" post, and today I wanted to share with you my newest China Glaze. Strawberry Fields was a shade I had been looking for a while, but didn't want to order online. The other day it appeared on a sale bin in my favorite makeup store, and for $2, I just had to have it :D

Strawberry Fields is a pink glassfleck (with a cool tone) packed with gold sparkles. It originally came out on 2009's summer collection "Summer Days".

This polish has a great formula, it was very easy to work with and opaque in 2 coats. I love the texture of the jelly base with the gold sparkles :) In the swatch above I used Essence's Quick Dry Topcoat, but it's really shiny on its own.

I love that the gold shine is noticeable, but not in-your-face. Is visible in most lights, but subtle.

Overall, it's a pretty nice polish and I loved it. I'm looking forward to trying more of China Glaze's glassflecked beauties.
So, there it is. My first "real" nail polish review. Thanks for reading!
