Moyou 30k Recap

Back in the first week of November Moyou London announced yet another nailart contest on their Instagram account in honor of hitting 30,000 followers. The challenge was to upload a nailart inspired by a character from Alice in Wonderland, each week during November. This obviously seemed more manageable than the Rainbow Challenge, which was a daily thing, so of course I had to try my hand at it.

Today I'll be sharing with you my four entries for this challenge (which you might already seen if you follow me on Instagram).

First week was inspired by the Queen of Hearts. I was inspired by the design of the character from the classic Disney movie and added some partially painted white roses. I used mainly the Pro 04 plate with a little addition of Fashionista 05 and Topa Topa 04. As bases I used OPI My Vampire is Buff, Sparitual Spellbound and Colorama Amarelo Sol. For stamping I used Konad Black, White and Spellbound,

The next week was dedicated to the White Rabbit. I don't have any rabbit or clock images from Moyou so I had to get creative to get close to the theme. I used an image from Kaleidoscope 02 and free handed some arms to turn the image into a clock. I also used Hipster 02 for the bowtie and patterns from the Tourist 07 plate as backgrouds, everything else is freehanded.

Third week was dedicated to the Mad Hatter. I drew inspiration mainly from the character from the Tim Burton film portrayed by Johnny Depp by representing different parts of his outfit on my nails.  On my index I depicted the hat, with the baroque pattern and peacock feathers, on my middle nail I represented the bowtie. Then I added the famous 10/6 by hand painting and a hat pattern. For this nailart I used Tourist 07, Artist 02 and Hipster 02 plates.

And finally, we have Alice! I used mainly pastel yellow, light blue, black and white for this soft and cute nailart. I represented Alice herself, her outfit and parts of her journey in my entry. I used Artist 02 for Alice's face (which I painted in as a stamping decal) and for the backgroud swirls on my ring finger, Hipster 02 for the bow and hair in my index and the tea cup in my ring finger and Pro 04 for the roses.

Overall, I'm not really happy with how many of these turned out. Even though I had some nice ideas (like turning the Kaleidoscope image into a clock) my execution wasn't the best as I kinda rushes my manis because I didn't get any inspiration until the last minute. Honestly, at some times it felt more like a chore than a fun thing. However, I love my Alice mani because of the color scheme and how the stamping turned out, I think I did well in representing the character too.

Do you participate in nail art competitions? I try to participate in Moyou's contests whenever I have the chance, even though I haven't won anything -so far- I like that it makes me *really* look at my plates to come up with ways to acommodate the theme.

Watercolor Birds

Hola chicas! Hoy les traigo un nailart estampado que hice con dos de mis placas nuevas: la Moyou London Mother Nature 02 y la Konad Square 01 (que mi hermana me envío desde Santiago). Para empezar apliqué dos capas de un esmalte rosado pálido y luego estampé con un diseño de la placa Konad con esmalte Konad Blanco. Añadí color a este estampado con los OPI Sheer Tints y para finalizar, estampé distintos pajaritos con la placa Mother Nature. Me encanta como ha quedado, es muy primaveral en mi opinión. Espero les haya gustado a ustedes también, gracias por leer! :)

Hi girls! Today I have a stamped nailart to share with you, using some of my newly arrived plates. I was inspired by some manis I found while browsing Pinterest that used stamping under layers of jelly polishes to create a sort of watercolor effect and when from there.

I started with two coats of a very soft pink polish (from a local brand, not the OPI pictured) and left that to dry. Then I stamped using the Konad Square #1 plate using Konad Special White and added some splashes of color with the OPI Sheer Tints mini set. This gave me a base with a subtle effect to finally add my stamped birds from the Moyou London Mother Nature 02 plata, stamped with Konad Special Black.

Overall I'm really happy with how looks. I am super happy the birds on the plate are tiny so they can fit my nubs. Double stamping is such a fun technique, though it can be a bit time-consuming (waiting for all the layers to dry and everything).

Nail Mail: Moyou London

Hola chicas! Hoy les traigo otro post de Nail Mail, esta vez son mis nuevas placas Moyou London, que es una empresa británica que hace las placas mas bellas que he visto (con esta, ya son 11 en mi colección!). Este pedido se demoró unas 3 semanas en llegar y pedí 3 placas: Fashionista 05, Kaleidoscope 02 y Mother Nature 02 (a esta le venía echando el ojo hace rato jiji). Espero poder compartir con ustedes manis estampadas con estas placas muy pronto.

Hi girls! Today I have another nail mail post, this timemy new Moyou London stamping plates. Moyou London is a british company that designs the most amazing and beautiful plates and have quickly become one of my favorite brands (with currently 11 plates in my collection).

For this order I chose some of their newer plates and an older one I had been eyeing for a while. The new ones are Fashionista 05, Kaleidoscope 02 and the oldie that I had my eye set on was Mother Nature 02.

As you can see I favor the standard sized plates, I have really tiny nails so I only get the XL version when there is no small design alternative, but still make it work well. You can tell I went to play with my plates as soon as I got them, except for poor Mother Nature.

Moyou London Rainbow Week

Hola niñas! Hoy les traigo un mega-post con nailart hechos con placas de estampado Moyou London, las que hice para participar en un concurso que hicieron en Instagram la semana pasada. El concurso se llamaba Desafío Arcoiris, a cada día de la semana se le asignó un color y la idea era subir un nailart inspirado en el color correspondiente. Hi girls! This past week Moyou London held a contest on Instagram called the Rainbow Challenge. Basically, each day was asigned a color and people were to post nailarts inspired by the color of that day. So today I'l be sharing with you all the 7 colored inspired nailarts I made to participate in this contest.

For Monday (Red) I used OPI My Vampire is Buff as base and Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching! as an accent. Then I stamped over my lighter base with Zoya Sookie and the Tourist plate #07.

Tuesday was Orange, and I went for a combination of Zoya Arizona, OPI Jinx and white. I love orange and white combined as it reminds me of an ice cream flavour that is very popular in my country called "Chirimoya Alegre" (or Happy Cherimoya which is cherimoya and orange ice cream combined). I stamped with Konad White using Pro #04 plate.

Next we had Yellow and though I'm not a fan of this color (I only have two in my collection!) this mani is one of my favorites from the week. I used OPI My Vampire is Buff, Lime Crime Crema de Limón and Colorama Amarelo Sol in combination with the Hipster #02 and Pro #04 plates.

Nailart Spam #2

Uff, no planeaba publicar dos posts recopilatorios seguidos, pero he estado tan poco inspirada en pintar mis uñas y sacar fotos, que me cuesta encontrar una foto decente, menos voy a tener 3 para un post completo. Así que las dejo con una muestra de lo que he usado ultimamente en mis uñas, casualmente son 3 looks que se enfocan en usar diferentes tonos de una misma colección. Los detalles iran debajo de cada foto, espero les guste y gracias por leer! :)

Wow. Sorry guys, I didn't plan on writing 2 of these kind of posts in a row, but I've been uninspired to blog about my nails lately and when I take pictures I hardly find one that I like, let alone 3 for a full blog post for one mani. I also recently broke a nail on a trip and filed them all down, so that's not helping my motivation either :( Anyway I hope you like some of my latest attempts at nailart and I hope to be back with a full post soon.

This one was an experiment with a holo gradient and I used three shades from the Color Club Halo Hues: Eternal Beauty, Miss Bliss and Cosmic Fate. On the accent I stamped with Cici and Sisi #12 with Konad Black and a bit of dotted Nails Inc Baker Street.

Next my Hipster Nails with one of my new Moyou London plates! For the watercolor background I used three shades from the China Glaze Sunsational Jellies collection: You Drive me Coconuts, Are you Jelly? and Keepin' it Teal and followed this tutorial for the effect. Then I stamped with the Moyou Hipster 08 plate and Konad Special White.

Not my best stamping but I'm happy by how completely hipster this mani turned out.

Some freehanded nailart inspired by MrCandiipants using the OPI Euro Centrale collection. For the base I used My Vampire is Buff and for the lines I used the colors that came in the mini kit: Cant' Find My Czechbook, Suzy's Hungary Again, You're such a Budapest and OY-Another Polish Joke (plus a random navy blue we can pretend it's Eurso Euro *wink wink*).

Finally, for this look I used two Picture Polish shades: Imperial and Douceur (from the 2013 Collaborative Shades) and then stamped over them with Essie Penny Talk and Pueen 72 (from the Buffet collection)

And that's it for today's edition of what's been on my nails lately :) I just realized that all of these focus on using several shades of one collection, which is something I like to do, even though I don't usually get a lot of shades from one collection (unless they come in minis).

Do you own a full collection of polish? I do, but only two: the Lime Crime Les Dessert shades (loved those colors) and the China Glaze Sunsational Jellies (because, jellies! lol).

P2 Attraction and Stamping

Hola niñas! Hoy les traigo un nailart estampado con colores bien veraniegos (según yo). El esmalte de base es P2 110 Attraction, un fucsia con un brillito azul bien sutil. Para estampar usé Midnight Metal de Estée Lauder, un azul metálico super opaco por lo que funcionó perfecto para estampar con la placa Moyou London Suki 04.

Hi guys! Today I have a stamping manicure to share with you, using polishes that I got from amazing nail buddies :) Since getting a XL Squishy stamper I've been obsessed with stamping manis, specially now that I finally mastered the technique with this stamper (it was hard at first, I was so used to my firm Konad one)

For the base I used P2 110 Attraction, a bright fuchsia with a somewhat subtle blue shimmer, which gives it an overall cooler tone. For the stamping I used Estée Lauder Midnight Metal, a beautiful saphire blue metallic, with the Moyou London Suki 04 plate.

 

I was really happy with the outcome, specially because this was the first time that stamping with the squishy stamper wasn't a nightmare for me, haha. This article on how to prep the pad by Michelle from Magic Talons was a real life saviour (check out the rest of her posts too, her stamping skills are amazing).

 

I was hesitant to share this last pic, macro is NOT kind to my skills lol, but I think it shoes how well this Estée Lauder stamps, giving crisp lines. I need to figure out if we got this collection here, because I might need a couple more :)

Twinkling Golden Stars

Hi girls! How have you been? I hope your weekend was good. It was good for me, I had time for relaxing and writing some letters, but I digress, let's get to the polish.

Today I bring you a stamping manicure I did with my newly arrived MoYou London plate. For some reason I had been wanting a plate with traditional japanese fabric patterns, but it was impossible to find one (strange craving, huh?). That was until someone mentioned MoYou London on a group I'm in, and while browsing  -BAM!- there it was, my stamping dream came true.

Here you can see the plate, which is quite large compared to the other plates in my collection (mainly Bundle Monster, Nailz Craze and Essence). The designs on the plate are on the smaller side, which is a plus for me since my nails are tiny, but on the site you can also find plates with larger designs.

My plate is from the Suki collection, which focuses on japanese motifs (from kawaii -cute- designs to these more traditional ones), but the site has a varied array of themes and designs, from full nails to small individual images. They also have these plates that consist of a big composition with different details so you can pick and choose which to use on your nails (like this).

The plates come in a re-sealable plastic bag, with blue film attached to it (which you have to remove before using) and adhered to a sturdy base (I think to avoid cuts with the sharp edges?). The designs are well etched so the stamped image is very crisp.

You can get this plate at the MoYou London website. They ship from the UK, but I didn't had any problem getting my order here. I'm not affiliated with this company in any way, I just loved their designs and look forward to adding other plates to my collection.

Now, for the mani, yay :)

I used a base of Nails Inc Baker Street, which is an amazing bright cobalt blue I've already shown here before (click here for the review). Then, I stamped over it with Orly Luxe which is great for stamping, but leaves my fingers full of sparkly particles. The pattern that I used is called "Asanoha", which reminds me of stars.

To finish off my mani, I topped it all with OPI Matte Top Coat, which was recently released in my country. I love the effect it gives to my manis, it's a true matte finish and dries very quick.

Do you like stamping? It was hard for me to pick up at first, but eventually I succeeded (sometimes it pays to be stubborn heh heh).
